Erectile Dysfunction Medication in St. Augustine

Finding the Best ED Medication

We offer a variety of treatments for erectile dysfunction at Crescent Beach Care, including medications. Our providers typically examine you to determine if your ED is caused by other conditions, like pelvic floor dysfunction, or we look for overlapping symptoms such as incontinence; however, if we discover it’s simply a blood flow issue, then we may turn to medications.

Here, we’ll describe your options for erectile dysfunction medication in St. Augustine, and how you can find the best one for your needs.

Alprostadil

This medication comes in the form of both a penile suppository and an injection. You’ll need to insert/inject it about 15 to 25 minutes before having sex, and can use it up to 3 times per week, never using twice within the same 24-hour period.

While Alprostadil is approved by the FDA to treat erectile dysfunction, the forms of medication can be uncomfortable for patients, so we don’t prescribe this unless patients don’t respond well to oral medication.

Avanafil

Avanafil is a PDE5 inhibitor that you take no more than once per day, 15 minutes before having sex. PDE5 inhibitors don’t combine well with nitrates, so your provider will review your medical history before prescribing this medication. However, Avanafil is a popular medication because it is FDA-approved, works quickly, and has minimal side effects.

Sildenafil

Sildenafil (brand name Viagra) is one of the most well-known and popular options for erectile dysfunction medication in St. Augustine. This oral tablet is to be taken up to once a day, an hour before having sex. This PDE5 inhibitor is proven to be an effective, FDA-approved treatment for ED. However, it also does not interact well with nitrates and produces more minor side effects.

Tadalafil

This medication is another PDE5 medication, but this can come at a higher or lower dose. The higher dose can be taken 30 minutes before sex, and the lower dose can be taken multiple times a day so you don’t need to prepare for sex.

Testosterone

Your body naturally produces testosterone, but your hormone levels can decrease as you age. Customized hormone therapies can supplement your testosterone to not only address ED, but also resolve other symptoms such as fatigue, low libido, and decreased muscle mass. Even better—testosterone pairs well with PDE5 medications to help improve ED. However, since testosterone increases your risk of heart attack, the FDA states that only those who have low testosterone due to health conditions should receive supplementation.

Vitamins & Supplements

If you’re looking for more long-term solutions, pairing lifestyle changes with vitamin supplements may be able to help increase your blood flow naturally. We offer a number of vitamins at Crescent Beach Care, so you can talk to your provider about which one might be right for you.
